São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Dandong, located in the southeastern part of China's Liaoning Province, at the confluence of the Yalu River and the Yellow Sea, is China's largest border city, across the river from North Korea's Sinuiju, known as the "Gateway to the Northeast". As an important backwater of the war against the U.S. and North Korea, Dandong carries heavy historical memories, with red attractions such as the Yalu River Broken Bridge and the Volunteer Park bearing witness to the heroic years. With a pleasant climate and four distinct seasons, it has the unique flavor of a border city and a wealth of natural and humanistic landscapes: the beautiful scenery along the Yalu River, the majestic and steep Phoenix Mountain, and the Hushan Great Wall, which is the starting point of the eastern end of the Ming Great Wall. Dandong is also the famous "Strawberry Town" in China, rich in seafood resources and active in border trade, blending the boldness of the Northeast with the beauty of Jiangnan, making it an excellent destination for experiencing border culture and red history.
