West Point is a prominent community on the Atlantic coast west of Liberia's capital, Monrovia, located near the mouth of the St. Paul River, with an area of about 0.4 square kilometers, densely populated, and one of the most vibrant communities in Monrovia. With fishing and trading as its main economic activities, the residents are mostly local fishermen and artisans, and the community retains a strong traditional Liberian cultural atmosphere. Despite challenges such as poor infrastructure and limited sanitation, West Point is known for its welcoming residents, unique music and dance arts, and is a window into grassroots life in Monrovia. As one of Liberia's historic communities, West Point has witnessed the country's growth and change and is an important gathering place for cultural and sporting activities for local youth.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
