São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Vodice is a quiet town in the Goriska region of northwestern Slovenia, nestled between the foothills of the Alps and the Soča Valley, close to the Italian border, blending Central European and Mediterranean flavors. The town is steeped in history, with its medieval old town preserving stone streets, old churches and traditional stone houses, including the landmark bell tower of St. Nicholas' Church, which offers a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and river valley. Vodice is known for its natural beauty, surrounded by dense forests and crystal clear streams, where hiking, cycling and bird watching are popular activities, and the nearby Soča River is ideal for kayaking and swimming. The region also retains a traditional craft and culinary culture, where visitors can sample Slovenian specialty cheeses, honey and wine, and experience the simplicity of the people and the slow pace of life, making it an excellent destination to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and experience the blend of nature and history.
