Dakar, the capital and largest city of the Republic of Senegal, is located on the Cape Verde Peninsula in the westernmost part of the African continent, bordering the Atlantic Ocean, and is known as the "Gateway to West Africa". As a political, economic and cultural center, this seaside city of more than 3 million people is known for its busy deep-water port, which is an important trade hub and fishing base in West Africa. Adean is a blend of tradition and modernity, with colonial buildings in the old town contrasting with new waterfront skyscrapers, and a rich cultural heritage marked by the unique rhythm and blues music of the region, colorful "boubou" costumes, and landmarks such as the Monument to the African Renaissance. Its tropical climate and golden beaches have made it a popular destination in West Africa, attracting travelers from around the globe to explore this vibrant African city.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
