São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Located in the western part of Nantou County, Taiwan Province of China, Chi-Chi Town is a famous historical and cultural town in Taiwan. The town is famous for the Chi-Chi Railway branch line, and boasts the Chi-Chi Station (a wooden station) built during the Japanese colonial period, which is now one of the oldest train stations in Taiwan. The town's specialties include bananas, dragon fruits, and other agricultural products, and the annual Chi-Chi Green Tunnel Marathon attracts many tourists. The main attractions include the Mingxin Academy, the Chiji Barrage Weir, and the Military History Park, featuring both humanistic and natural landscapes.
Visitors can take the Jiji Railway or drive on National Highway 3. We recommend cycling through the Green Tunnel, visiting the 921 Earthquake Site, and enjoying a traditional banana egg roll. The best time to visit is from October to April, when the weather is cool enough for outdoor activities.
