Paranan, Suriname: Industrial and Mining Town on the Suriname River

Paramaribo is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Suriname, situated on the west bank of the Lower Suriname River and bordering the Atlantic Ocean. As the political, economic and cultural center of the country, Paramaribo is known for its distinctive colonial architecture, and the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town, with its Dutch colonial wooden buildings and tropical landscape. The city is Suriname's industrial hub, with bauxite mining, processing and agricultural trade as the mainstays of the economy, and a well-established port that handles most of the country's imports and exports. The city is a multicultural city with a predominantly Indian, Creole, Javanese and European population, with Dutch as the official language and Surinamese as the lingua franca, and a hot and humid climate with an average annual temperature of about 27°C. It is one of the few capital cities in South America where Dutch is the official language.

Overview of Sao Tome and Principe (note on "Java")

São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
