São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Located in the Belgian province of Liège in the Walloon Region, La Louvière is one of the major industrial cities of Belgium, about 50 kilometers from the capital, Brussels. Famous for its 19th-century coal and steel industry boom, the city today retains a rich landscape of industrial heritage, most notably the four ship lifts on the Central Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that demonstrates the excellence of 19th-century engineering. With a population of around 77,000 and a multicultural mix, La Louvière offers a leisurely pace of local life, with the weight of its industrial past and the dynamism of a modern city. As one of the economic centers of the Walloon Region, its manufacturing and service sectors continue to grow, while the surrounding natural beauty lends itself to exploring Belgium's unique industrial culture and heritage.
