Bordering on the Iranian border and about 250 kilometers away from the capital Baku, Satre District is rich in forests and water resources. There are several nature reserves in the district with rich biodiversity, making it an ideal destination for hiking and eco-tourism.
The economy is predominantly agricultural, producing wheat, grapes and nuts. Traditional Azerbaijani culture is preserved in the region, with handicrafts and folk festivals attracting tourists. The Satre district is easily accessible by road, connecting major cities and serving as an important gateway for exploring the south of Azerbaijan.
Enriquillo is an important city located in the southwestern part of the Dominican Republic and is the capital of the province of Bahoruco. The city is named after the neighboring Lago Enriquillo, the largest lake in the Caribbean and one of the lowest in the world.
Enriquillo is located in an arid basin surrounded by a unique semi-desert landscape. As a national park and biosphere reserve, Lake Enriquillo inhabits rare wildlife such as American crocodiles and flamingos, making it a popular destination for eco-tourism.
The city's surroundings preserve the historical sites of the Taino aboriginal people and hold memories of the Spanish colonial period. The local economy is based on agriculture, with tropical crops such as bananas and mangoes, while salt and tourism are becoming important industries.
Visitors can reach Enriquillo by land from the capital Santo Domingo or from the province of Barahona, which serves as a hub for exploring the Lake District and the nearby national parks, offering a unique natural and human experience.
