São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Kagoshima City is located on the southern tip of the island of Kyushu in Japan and is the political, economic and cultural center of Kagoshima Prefecture. The city is known for its magnificent natural beauty and rich historical heritage and is an important tourist destination in the Kyushu region.
Kagoshima City is situated on the shore of Kinko Bay, across the sea from Sakurajima, an active volcano. The climate is subtropical, with warm winters and rainy summers, and the average annual temperature is about 18℃. The frequent eruptions of the Sakurajima volcano add a unique natural wonder to the city.
As the center of the Satsuma Clan, Kagoshima City was an important birthplace of the Meiji Restoration in Japan. Numerous historical sites remain in the city, such as Sengan-en and the ruins of Tsurumaru Castle. It is also the home of such historical figures as Takamori Saigo.
The economy of Kagoshima City is based on tourism, agriculture and fishing. Specialties such as sweet potatoes and kuroge wagyu beef are produced in abundance, and the food processing and semiconductor industries are well developed in the manufacturing sector. Kagoshima is the transportation hub of southern Kyushu, with an international airport and a Shinkansen station.
Visitors can experience unique activities such as Sakurajima volcano sightseeing, sand baths and hot springs, and local cuisine. The perfect blend of the city and nature, where you can experience the convenience of the city and enjoy the gifts of nature, makes it a popular tourist town.
