São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Located in the central Flemish region of Belgium, Leuven is the capital of the Flemish province of Belgium, only 30 kilometers away from the capital city of Brussels, and is regarded as one of the "most livable university cities in Europe". The city is famous for KU Leuven, founded in 1425, which is one of the oldest and top research universities in Europe, attracting many scholars and students from all over the world and injecting youthful vitality into the city. Leuven's old town has well-preserved medieval architecture, such as the Gothic St. Peter's Church and the Renaissance-style City Hall, which make a stroll through the city a step back in time. Meanwhile, as a major European technology and innovation center, Leuven is a leader in biotechnology, artificial intelligence and other fields, combining deep historical heritage with modern industrial vitality, making it an ideal place to explore Belgian culture and academia.
