Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims. The local economy is based on fishing, tourism and agriculture, and the climate is cool enough for summer vacations.
With a population of around 20,000, the town of Sevan retains its traditional Armenian culture, while the infrastructure is constantly being improved to provide accommodation and catering services. It is an ideal starting point for exploring the nature and history of the Caucasus and is easily accessible for short trips.
Located in the eastern part of Sichuan Province of China, Dazhu County is part of Dazhou City and is situated in the combined area of Sichuan and Chongqing, which is the pivotal area for the eastward opening of Sichuan. With a total area of 2,075 square kilometers and a population of about 1 million, it is predominantly Han Chinese, and its dialect is Southwest Mandarin.
Dazhu has a subtropical monsoon climate with four distinct seasons and an average annual temperature of 16.5℃. It has Wufeng Mountain National Forest Park and Baidao Lake Provincial Wetland Park, with a forest coverage rate of over 40%. It is rich in mineral resources, with natural gas reserves of 600 billion cubic meters, making it an important natural gas production base in China.
Agriculture is famous for ramie (the hometown of ramie in China), glutinous rice, and toon cultivation; industry is dominated by energy, building materials, and electromechanics. The specialties of Dazhu mash and Donghan mash are protected by national geographical indications. The local culture is characterized by the integration of the characteristics of Ba Shu, Sichuan Opera, bamboo weaving craft and "bamboo doll" folklore.
The Baomao Expressway and South Daliang Expressway run through the whole area, and it is 60 kilometers away from Dazhou Airport. The main attractions include Jintu Temple, Yunwu Gorge, Three Kingdoms Ancient Road, etc. It receives more than 2 million tourists annually, and its GDP will reach 42 billion yuan in 2022, ranking at the forefront of the county economy in northeast Sichuan.
