São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Sanmin District is located in the northwestern part of Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, and is the most populous district in Kaohsiung, covering an area of about 19.8 square kilometers. The district is named after the "Three Principles of the People" proposed by Dr. Sun Yat-sen, and is an important transportation hub and cultural and educational center of Kaohsiung.
The area is home to important facilities such as the Kaohsiung Railway Station and Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital, as well as cultural landmarks such as the Love River Scenic Belt and the Science and Industry Museum. Sanmin District has both residential and commercial functions, and the MRT Red Line runs north and south, forming a complete living area.
As one of Kaohsiung's core districts, Sanmin District is home to traditional markets, shopping districts, and food courts, retaining a strong sense of local Taiwanese life while continuing to promote urban renewal and economic development.
