Introduction to Chengkou, Chongqing, China
Chengkou County is located in the northeastern part of Chongqing Municipality, China, at the southern foot of the Daba Mountains, bordering Sichuan and Shaanxi Provinces, and is the northern gateway of Chongqing Municipality. It is rich in natural resources, with more than 70% forest coverage, and boasts China's national nature reserve, the Daba Mountain National Nature Reserve, a biodiversity hotspot.
Famous for its red culture, Chengkou is an important part of the Sichuan-Shaanxi Revolutionary Bases, with a number of revolutionary sites remaining. The economy is dominated by specialty agriculture, and Chengkou enjoys a great reputation for its agricultural specialties such as old preserved meat, honey and walnuts. It also contains mineral resources such as manganese and barium.
With an average altitude of about 1,000 meters and cool summers, the county is known as "Chongqing's summer resort" and is gradually developing its eco-tourism industry.In 2019, Chengkou exited the national-level poverty-stricken county and entered a new stage of rural revitalization.
