Located in the south-central part of China's Hubei Province, Jingzhou is an important city in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and a national historical and cultural city. The city has a total area of 14,100 square kilometers, with a resident population of about 5 million, and is now under the jurisdiction of Jingzhou District, Shashu City District and other eight counties and municipalities.
With a history of more than 3,000 years, Jingzhou is the birthplace of Chu culture and the cultural center of the Three Kingdoms. There are national key cultural relics protection units such as the ancient city wall of Jingzhou and the ruins of Ji'nan City of Chu, and the unearthed ancient corpses of the Western Han Dynasty and the sword of King Goujian of Yue are world-famous.
Jingzhou has now formed the pillar industries of auto parts, agricultural products processing, textile and garment, and biomedicine. As an important grain, cotton and oil production base in the Jianghan Plain, the output of rice and rapeseed is among the highest in Hubei Province, and it is known as "the land of fish and rice".
Jingzhou is situated on the golden waterway of the Yangtze River, where the Hurong Expressway and Erguang Expressway intersect. Major attractions include Jingzhou Museum, Guan Yu Shrine, Zhanghua Temple, etc., which attract a large number of tourists every year to experience the charm of Chu culture and the history of the Three Kingdoms.
