Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims. The local economy is based on fishing, tourism and agriculture, and the climate is cool enough for summer vacations.
With a population of around 20,000, the town of Sevan retains its traditional Armenian culture, while the infrastructure is constantly being improved to provide accommodation and catering services. It is an ideal starting point for exploring the nature and history of the Caucasus and is easily accessible for short trips.
Zhan Yi District, belonging to Qujing City, Yunnan Province, China, is located in the eastern part of Yunnan Province, and is the origin of the Pearl River, known as "the first county at the source of the Pearl River". With a total area of 2,910 square kilometers and a population of about 400,000, the district is located on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, with an average altitude of about 2,000 meters and a mild and humid climate.
Zhan Yi is rich in natural and humanistic landscapes, with core attractions including the Pearl River Source Scenic Area, the Haifeng Wetland Nature Reserve, and a cluster of tiankengs. It is also a multi-ethnic settlement, where the cultures of Yi, Hui and other minorities mingle to form unique folk customs. With convenient transportation, Zhan Yi is an important node of the city cluster in central Yunnan, with several transportation arteries, such as the Shanghai-Kunming High Speed Railway and Hangrui Expressway, running through the whole territory.
The economy is dominated by agriculture, tourism and energy industries, producing crops such as baked tobacco and marigolds, while actively developing eco-tourism based on the Pearl River Source brand. Zhan Yi has a long history, was once the ancient Yelang State and the important channel of the Southwest Silk Road, retaining a large number of historical sites and cultural legends.
