Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims. The local economy is based on fishing, tourism and agriculture, and the climate is cool enough for summer vacations.
With a population of around 20,000, the town of Sevan retains its traditional Armenian culture, while the infrastructure is constantly being improved to provide accommodation and catering services. It is an ideal starting point for exploring the nature and history of the Caucasus and is easily accessible for short trips.
Moltuwo is a coastal city in the Western Province of Sri Lanka, located about 15 kilometers south of the capital city of Colombo and bordering the Indian Ocean. An important part of the Colombo metropolitan area, the city is known for its busy fishing port and industrial activities, and is one of the key hubs of the regional economy. Moltuwo enjoys a warm tropical climate with an average annual temperature of about 27°C, making it suitable for year-round travel.
The economy of Molertuwo is based on fishing, manufacturing and trade, with its port being an important distribution point for Sri Lanka's catch, and the development of light industries such as textiles and food processing. Agriculture also plays a part in the city's surrounding area, which is rich in coconut groves and rice paddies. In recent years, logistics and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have gradually emerged as Colombo's economy radiates.
Molle Tewo retains the characteristics of Sri Lanka's multicultural fusion, with Buddhist temples and mosques co-existing. Visitors can visit the local fish market to experience the life of a fisherman or head to the nearby beaches to enjoy a relaxing time. The city is easily accessible by rail and road with quick access to Colombo, making it a suitable stopover for exploring the west coast.
