Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims. The local economy is based on fishing, tourism and agriculture, and the climate is cool enough for summer vacations.
With a population of around 20,000, the town of Sevan retains its traditional Armenian culture, while the infrastructure is constantly being improved to provide accommodation and catering services. It is an ideal starting point for exploring the nature and history of the Caucasus and is easily accessible for short trips.
Menglian Dai Lahu Wa Autonomous County is located in the southwestern part of Yunnan Province, belonging to Pu'er City and bordering with Myanmar, making it one of the important border counties in Yunnan. Located in a tropical mountainous area with a warm and humid climate, the area is rich in natural resources and is famous for rubber, tea and tropical fruit cultivation. Menglian has a profound ethnic cultural heritage, and is a multi-ethnic settlement of Dai, Lahu, Wa and other ethnic groups, with ethnic festivals and traditional customs preserved intact.
Menglian Xuanfusi Office is a national key cultural relics protection unit, which attracts many history and culture enthusiasts as a witness of the Tusi system during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Nayun Ancient Town is known as "Dai King City", preserving the ancient architecture and religious atmosphere. The annual "Divine Fish Festival" and "Water Splashing Festival" are full of ethnic characteristics, which is an excellent opportunity to experience the ethnic minorities. Border trade and cross-border tourism is also one of the highlights of Menglian.
Menglian is located in the Lancang River basin, with undulating terrain, high forest coverage and remarkable biodiversity. The economy is mainly based on agriculture, focusing on the development of rubber, sugar cane, coffee and other industries, with ecotourism and border trade gradually emerging in recent years. As one of China's land routes to Southeast Asia, Menglian has potential development advantages in the "Belt and Road" initiative.
