Khost is the capital of Khost Province in the eastern province of Afghanistan, adjacent to the Pakistan border, and is one of the major transportation hubs between Afghanistan and South Asia. The city is centered on the Pashtun culture, and the local population is mostly engaged in farming and herding, with fruits (e.g., pomegranates, grapes) and handicrafts as its characteristic products. As a key link between Afghanistan and Pakistan, Khost has played an important role in historical trade and cultural exchanges, but has faced certain challenges to its development in recent years due to the regional situation. Nevertheless, its unique geographical location and multiculturalism have made it a central city in eastern Afghanistan that cannot be ignored.
Przhevalsk is a border city in Kyrgyzstan's Issyk-Kul Oblast, located in the northern foothills of the Tien Shan Mountains, southeast of Issyk-Kul, and adjacent to China's Xinjiang Irkeshtan Border Crossing, which is one of the most important trade nodes along the Kyrgyz-Chinese border. Named after the 19th-century Russian explorer Przhevalsky, the city is surrounded by extensive grasslands and a well-developed animal husbandry industry that produces wool and dairy products. It has a dry climate, with cold winters and mild summers, and a unique mountain-steppe landscape. Despite its small size, as a transportation hub connecting Kyrgyzstan and China, Przhevalsk plays an important role in regional economic and cultural exchanges, and the local residents are mostly engaged in farming and cross-border trade, retaining a strong Kyrgyz traditional flavor.
