Diffa, the capital of the Diffa region in southeastern Niger, is located on the southern edge of the Sahara Desert and shares a border with Nigeria, making it one of the most important border cities in Niger. The city is located in the lower Niger River basin around the climate of the tropical desert climate, hot and dry throughout the year, the average annual precipitation is less than 300 millimeters. The economy is based on agriculture and animal husbandry, and the surrounding areas are rich in millet, sorghum and livestock. Diffa, as a regional trade center, undertakes the function of cross-border trade with neighboring countries, such as Nigeria, and is especially famous for the trade of livestock, agricultural products and handicrafts. The city is culturally diverse, with Hausa, Tuareg and Kanuri ethnic groups living in the area, and is unique in its crafts such as traditional leather weaving and silversmithing. Despite infrastructural challenges, Diffa remains an important economic and cultural node in the south-east of the Niger, thanks to its strategic location and rich cultural heritage.
Located in the southeastern part of China's Sichuan Province, Lu County is part of Luzhou City, situated at the confluence of the Yangtze River and the Tuojiang River, and is an important node of the South Sichuan Economic Zone. The county has a total area of about 1,532 square kilometers and a population of about 1.07 million. As a major agricultural county in Sichuan, Lu County is famous for rice, longan and hog farming, and also holds the title of "Hometown of Chinese Dragon Culture".
Lu County has a long history, with national key cultural relics protection units such as the Longmenqiao Bridge and the Yuzhanshan Cliff Statue. The annual "Dragon Culture Festival" is a unique folklore tradition. Natural landscapes such as Yulong Lake and Haichao Lake and the art of Song Dynasty stone carvings form a cultural and tourism fusion, making it an important cultural destination in southern Sichuan.
Lu County has initially formed three leading industries, namely, liquor supporting, green building materials, medicine and health, of which Lu County liquor industrial park provides important industrial chain support for Luzhou Laojiao. The construction of the twin-city economic circle in the Chengdu-Chongqing region has driven the development of local rail transportation, modern agriculture and trade and logistics, and the G76 Xiamen-Rongshan Expressway and the Yukun High Speed Railway have strengthened the position of the regional transportation hub.
