Anatom Island, also known as Aneityum, is Vanuatu's southernmost island, located in the Coral Sea of the South Pacific Ocean and under the jurisdiction of Tafea Province. This 159-square-kilometer volcanic island, with its rainforest-covered mountains and lagoons fringed by white sandy beaches, is ecologically well-preserved and home to a wide variety of endemic birds and plants. The island's aboriginal culture runs deep, with traditional villages still preserving their unique customs and architecture, and a population of about 1,000 people who make their living from agriculture and fishing. Anatom Island is surrounded by rich coral reefs, ideal for diving and snorkeling, and is known as the "South of Vanuatu", a hidden paradise that attracts travelers in search of pristine natural experiences.
Same, the capital of Timor-Leste's Ainaro District, is located about 50 kilometers south of the capital, Dili, in the mountainous interior and is an important agricultural and transportation hub for the country. It is known for its coffee farming, surrounded by terraced fields that produce Timor-Leste's premium Arabica coffee beans. Historically, Samu was an important stronghold during Timor-Leste's War of Independence, and remnants of the resistance movement still remain in the area, attracting history buffs to explore. The surrounding area is rich in natural beauty and close to Mount Ramelau, Timor-Leste's highest peak, making it a stopover for hiking enthusiasts.
