Akoué is the core city of the Bondama Valley region in central Côte d'Ivoire. It is strategically located on the country's main north-south transportation route, connecting the economic center of Abidjan with the northern interior. As an agricultural town, the surrounding area is rich in cash crops such as cocoa, coffee and cassava, and the local market is active and an important hub for the purchase and trade of agricultural products, known as the "breadbasket of Côte d'Ivoire". The city is a blend of tradition and modernity, with artisanal markets that preserve the local culture and commercial facilities that are gradually developing.
