Zirndorf is a town in the county of Fürth in the administrative district of Central Franconia in Bavaria, Germany, about 10 kilometers west of Nuremberg and within the Nuremberg metropolitan area. With a population of about 28,000, the town is known for its precision manufacturing and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with a particularly strong industrial base in the fields of household goods and automotive components. Historically, Zilchow was first recorded in the 12th century and briefly became a military stronghold in the 18th century when Prussian troops were stationed there.
