Zepu County is located in the southwestern part of China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR), belonging to the Kashgar region and situated on the western edge of the Tarim Basin. The county has a total area of about 999 square kilometers and a population of about 200,000, mainly Uyghurs and Han Chinese. Zephyr is named after the Persian word "Zelpushan", meaning "River of Gold", and is named after the Zephyr River, a tributary of the Yarkant River.
Zephyr is an important agricultural county in South Xinjiang, famous for cotton, jujube, walnut and other agricultural products, known as the "township of jujube". The Jinhuyang National Forest Park is a famous attraction in the area, with natural poplar forests and wetland landscapes. Zepu has convenient transportation, with National Highway 315 running through the city, about 200 kilometers away from Kashgar, and is an important node of the southern Silk Road. The local culture is a blend of Uyghur traditions and Central Plains characteristics, with a strong ethnic flavor.
Located in the eastern part of Burgenland, close to the Hungarian border, Rust, Austria, is a small town famous for its wine and unique wetland landscape.
