Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture is located in the eastern part of Jilin Province, China, at the border of China, Russia and North Korea, and is the geographical center of Northeast Asia. Founded in 1952, it is the only Korean Autonomous Prefecture in China, with Yanji City as its capital. With an area of 42,700 square kilometers and a population of about 2.14 million, ethnic Koreans account for 36.5% of the total population, retaining a strong Korean cultural and linguistic characteristics.
The city boasts natural landscapes such as the Changbai Mountain National Nature Reserve and the Tumen River Delta, as well as humanistic attractions such as Korean folk villages and Buddhist temples. The economy is based on tourism, agriculture, food processing and cross-border trade, and is an important trade window for China to North Korea and Russia. With a comprehensive network of high-speed railways and highways, and a number of domestic and international air routes operated by Yanji Chaoyangchuan International Airport, the transportation convenience is outstanding.
Yanbian has become an important cultural and ecological tourism destination in the Northeast with its unique cross-border flavor, Korean cuisine (e.g. cold noodles, kimchi) and snow and ice tourism programs.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
