Located in the eastern part of Shaanxi Province of China, Weinan is situated in the eastern part of the Guanzhong Plain and is the eastern gateway to Shaanxi, with a total area of about 13,000 square kilometers and a population of more than 5 million. As one of the major birthplaces of Chinese civilization, Weinan has a long history and a rich cultural heritage with famous sites such as Mount Hua of the Western Mountains, Sima Qian Ancestral Hall and Qiachuan Wetland. The economy is based on agriculture, producing wheat, apples and peppers, while industry is developing rapidly, covering energy, chemicals and manufacturing. Transportation is convenient, connecting Xi'an to many provinces, with the Longhai Railway and Lianhuo Expressway running through the region. With its mild climate and four distinct seasons, Weinan is a popular destination for tourism and investment.
