Réunion is a French overseas department located in the western part of the Indian Ocean, in the Mascarene Islands, and is not an independent country. Its capital is St. Denis, and the name "Vincendeau" may be a misnomer or confusion for the island's natural beauty. Réunion is known as a "nature lover's paradise" for its magnificent volcanic landscapes (e.g. the active Volcano Furnace), its rich biodiversity and its World Heritage Site "Réunion National Park". With some of the most spectacular waterfalls in the Indian Ocean (such as the Seven Colors Waterfall), unique black sand beaches, and a multicultural French atmosphere, it is a popular destination for hiking, surfing, and eco-tourism. As a European Union Overseas Territory, where French and the Euro are spoken, tourism is the backbone of the economy and the year-round climate attracts travelers from around the globe to explore its pristine and striking natural beauty.
Same, the capital of Timor-Leste's Ainaro District, is located about 50 kilometers south of the capital, Dili, in the mountainous interior and is an important agricultural and transportation hub for the country. It is known for its coffee farming, surrounded by terraced fields that produce Timor-Leste's premium Arabica coffee beans. Historically, Samu was an important stronghold during Timor-Leste's War of Independence, and remnants of the resistance movement still remain in the area, attracting history buffs to explore. The surrounding area is rich in natural beauty and close to Mount Ramelau, Timor-Leste's highest peak, making it a stopover for hiking enthusiasts. A blend of traditional Timacu culture and modern townscape, Samu offers a unique look at the interior of Timor-Leste.
