Šiauliai is the fourth largest city in Lithuania, located in the northwest of the country near the Latvian border, about 214 kilometers from the capital Vilnius. As a historical and cultural center of Lithuania, Subakus is known as the "Way of the Cross", and its landmark "Cross on the Hill" is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Lithuania, with hundreds of thousands of crosses, symbolizing faith and perseverance. Founded in 1236, the city has survived many wars and still retains some of its medieval architecture, such as the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul.
