Southampton is a port city in Hampshire, South East England, United Kingdom. It is located at the mouth of the River Tees and the River Itchen at the confluence of the Solent, and has a long maritime history. As an important passenger and container port in the UK, Southampton is the maritime gateway to mainland Europe.
Southampton is famous as the place where the Titanic set sail and has a rich maritime heritage with medieval walls, Tudor buildings and a maritime museum. The University of Southampton is one of the top 100 universities in the world and has driven the city's technological and educational development. The city hosts an annual boat show, music festival and other cultural events.
The city's economy is underpinned by port logistics, aerospace and digital industries, and is home to the UK's Renewable Energy Research Center. Conveniently located with an international port, rail hub and the M3/M27 freeway close to London, it is about an hour's drive from Heathrow Airport.
Visitors can explore the Old Town, Mayflower Park and West Quay shopping center. With 28% green space, a relaxed pace of life and close proximity to the New Forest National Park, the city combines urban convenience with natural beauty.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
