Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims. The local economy is based on fishing, tourism and agriculture, and the climate is cool enough for summer vacations.
With a population of around 20,000, the town of Sevan retains its traditional Armenian culture, while the infrastructure is constantly being improved to provide accommodation and catering services. It is an ideal starting point for exploring the nature and history of the Caucasus and is easily accessible for short trips.
Trujillo is the capital of the La Libertad region in northwestern Peru, located in the Moche Valley on the Pacific coast, about 560 kilometers from the capital city of Lima. As the third largest city in Peru, Trujillo is known as the "Eternal Spring City" and is famous for its mild climate throughout the year.
Founded in 1534 by the Spanish conquistador Diego de Almagro, Trujillo is famous for its colonial architecture and its city center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is surrounded by important archaeological sites such as the Temple of the Sun and the Temple of the Moon of the Moche civilization, and the ancient city of Chan Chan, the capital of the Kingdom of Chimu (a World Heritage Site), which is an important base for the exploration of pre-Columbian civilizations.
The economy is based on agriculture (asparagus, sugar cane), fishing and manufacturing, while being an important commercial hub in northern Peru. The city is known for its Marinera dances and traditional festivals, and hosts an annual National Marinera Dance Competition. Institutions of higher education such as the University of Trujillo make it a regional cultural center.
Visitors can visit the colonial-style Plaza de Armas, historic churches, and vacation at nearby Huancancanco Beach. As the gateway to the archaeological sites of northern Peru, Trujillo blends ancient civilizations with Spanish colonial history, making it an important destination for cultural tourism in Peru.
