Rogojnë is a quiet town in the Albanian state of Elbasan in the southeast of Albania, nestled in the mountains at an altitude of about 600 meters above sea level, about 80 kilometers from the capital city of Tirana. The town is famous for its well-preserved Ottoman-era architecture and traditional handicrafts, with the old town's stone streets, quaint stone houses and century-old wooden doors and windows displaying a rich Mediterranean-Balkan fusion. Local residents still maintain a traditional way of life, hand weaving, pottery production and other skills passed on from generation to generation. The church of St. Nicholas, built in the 19th century, has a beautifully frescoed interior and is an important heritage of religious art. Surrounded by dense forests and rolling hills, Rogojine is an ideal destination for hikers to explore the natural beauty of the area while enjoying a simple atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of the Albanian countryside.
