Roxanne is a coastal community in Guyana's Essequibo Islands - West Demerara Region, located about 30 kilometers west of the capital, Georgetown, near the mouth of the Essequibo River, with a unique landscape of tropical rainforests and marine transition zone. The local economy is based on agriculture and fisheries, and residents are mostly engaged in rice cultivation, tropical fruit cultivation and offshore fishing, and agricultural products are mainly supplied to neighboring towns and the capital market. As the epitome of Guyana's multiculturalism, the community's Indians, Africans and Aboriginals live together in harmony, preserving traditional music, handicrafts and other folk activities, and attracting neighborhood participation in the annual Harvest Festival. Despite its small size, Roxton has become one of the windows to the grassroots community life in Guyana, thanks to its tranquil rural atmosphere and simple folkways.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
