Pinglu District, part of Shuozhou City, Shanxi Province, China, is located on the Loess Plateau in northern Jin, with a long history and deep cultural heritage. As an important energy base in Shanxi Province, Pinglu is known for its rich coal resources, which support the local economy and energy industry. The region boasts historical sites such as the Great Wall Ruins, reflecting an ancient military defense system, as well as unique folk cultures such as traditional Jin opera and festivals. Pinglu has a temperate continental climate with four distinct seasons, and agriculture is dominated by the cultivation of miscellaneous grains. In recent years, Pinglu has become a vibrant region in northern Jin as it actively promotes tourism and sustainable development while maintaining traditional industries.
Xin'an County is part of Luoyang City, Henan Province, China, located in the western part of Henan Province, with a total area of about 1,160 square kilometers. Located on the south bank of the middle reaches of the Yellow River, the county enjoys a warm temperate continental monsoon climate with four distinct seasons. As of 2020, the resident population is about 500,000, predominantly Han Chinese.
Xin'an has a long history, with human activities as early as the Neolithic Age, and is an important part of the Heluo culture. The county has national cultural relics protection units such as the Han Hangu Pass and the Thousand Tang Zhizhai, which is famous for its collection of epitaphs from the Tang Dynasty, known as the "Stone Book of the Tang Dynasty". Traditional folklore, such as Yu opera and paper-cutting, has been preserved to this day.
Xin'an's economy is dominated by industry, rich in bauxite, coal and other mineral resources, and is one of the important aluminum industry bases in China. Agriculture mainly produces wheat, corn and apples. Tourism is gradually developing due to the natural scenery of Longtan Grand Canyon and Qingyou Mountain.
Xin'an is located in the hilly and mountainous area of western Henan, with diverse terrain and the Yellow River flowing through the north. The transportation is convenient, with the Longhai Railway and Lianhuo Expressway passing through the city, and about 30 kilometers away from downtown Luoyang, which can be quickly connected to the neighboring cities by highway and railroad.
