Oecussi is a special administrative district of East Timor, located in the northwestern part of the island of Timor, surrounded by West Timor, Indonesia, and is an enclave area of East Timor. Historically the first stronghold of Portuguese colonizers on the island of Timor, Oecussi retains a rich colonial cultural heritage, such as old churches and Portuguese-style buildings. The local economy is based on agriculture and fishing, with most residents engaged in coffee and rice cultivation. Osu has a beautiful coastline, such as Pante Macasar Beach, which is one of Timor-Leste's important natural landscapes. Despite its remote location, it maintains a unique cultural tradition and is a window into the history and multiculturalism of Timor-Leste.
