Maputo is the capital and largest city of Mozambique, located in the south of the country, bordering the Gulf of Maputo in the Indian Ocean. As the political, economic and cultural center of the country, Maputo has a population of approximately 1.1 million and is known for its wide boulevards, colonial architecture and active port.
