Manhattan is a city in the U.S. state of Kansas, located in the northeastern part of the state and is the county seat of Riley County. The city is located about 80 kilometers from the state capital, Topeka, and has a population of about 55,000 people. Manhattan is home to Kansas State University, a university known for agriculture, engineering and veterinary medicine, which infuses the city with a strong academic atmosphere.
The city's surroundings are characterized by the Flint Hills landscape, which offers abundant opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and camping.
