Malacky is a city in the Bratislava Region of Slovakia, strategically located in the west of the country, near the Austrian border and about 30 kilometers from the capital Bratislava. As the administrative center of Malacky District, the city's economy is dominated by the automotive industry, with the Volkswagen Slovakia plant headquartered here, which is an important pillar of the local economy. Surrounded by the Little Carpathian Mountains, the city has a beautiful natural landscape and is suitable for outdoor activities such as hiking and cycling. The old town retains historical buildings, such as the Church of St. Jacob, which is an example of traditional Slovak architecture.
