Makarska is a famous Croatian seaside resort located on the Adriatic coast, in the middle of the Dalmatian region, about 60 kilometers from Split. The city is backed by the majestic Biokovo Mountain, facing the crystal clear water and beautiful beaches, forming a unique landscape of mountains and sea.
Makarska has a 2-kilometer long pebble beach and coastal walkway lined with cafes, restaurants and stores. The old town retains its Venetian style architecture, with the Church of St. Mark and the Franciscan Monastery as important historical monuments. The piazza in the center of the city is the heart of local social life.
As a tourist center, Makarska offers an abundance of water sports, hiking and mountain and island excursions. Visitors can take boat trips to the neighboring Adriatic islands such as Brac. In the summer it hosts a variety of cultural events and music festivals, attracting a large number of international tourists.
Makarska is connected to other Croatian cities by the Adriatic Highway, and the nearest major airport is located in Split. The city is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Croatia for its Mediterranean climate, excellent services and natural beauty.
Same, the capital of Timor-Leste's Ainaro District, is located about 50 kilometers south of the capital, Dili, in the mountainous interior and is an important agricultural and transportation hub for the country. Historically, Samu was an important stronghold during Timor-Leste's War of Independence, and remnants of the resistance movement still remain in the area, attracting history buffs to explore. The surrounding area is rich in natural beauty and close to Mount Ramelau, Timor-Leste's highest peak, making it a stopover for hiking enthusiasts.
