This nearly 1,000-year-old city is centered around Lund University - founded in 1666, it is one of the oldest universities in Northern Europe and has spawned a number of Nobel Prize winners, infusing the city with a strong atmosphere of academia and innovation. The well-preserved medieval buildings in Lund's old town, such as Lund Cathedral, bear witness to its past as a religious and historical center. Today, Lund's blend of tradition and modernity has made it one of Sweden's most attractive cities for students, researchers and tourists from all over the world, not only as a place for technology companies and innovative organizations, but also for its bicycle-friendly urban design and sustainable living concepts.
