Kutum is an important town in the northwestern Sudanese state of North Darfur, located about 1,200 kilometers west of the capital Khartoum, in the transition zone between the southern edge of the Sahara Desert and the Sahel. As a hub of commerce in the region, Kutum is connected to the neighboring agricultural and pastoral areas, which are dominated by date palm cultivation, livestock trade (camels, goats) and, in recent years, the gradual development of gold mining. The climate is tropical desert, with year-round aridity, high temperatures of up to 45°C in summer, and significant temperature differences between day and night in winter. The local population is mostly composed of Arab and indigenous Africans, and the traditional market is a mix of handicrafts and household goods, combining Arab culture and African tribal characteristics. Despite infrastructure challenges, Kutum remains a key node for sustaining livelihoods and the regional economy in North Darfur.
São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
