Located in Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Jimushar County is situated at the northern foothills of the Tianshan Mountains and the southeastern edge of the Junggar Basin, and was an important hub of the Northern Route of the Ancient Silk Road. It has the world cultural heritage site of Beiting Imperial City, which was once the seat of Beiting Capital in Tang Dynasty, witnessing the glorious history of multi-ethnic intermingling. The natural scenery in the county is exquisite, with Tianshan Mountains and snowy peaks, grasslands and wetlands and Gobi Desert contrasting with each other, giving rise to unique ecological and humanistic landscapes. As a multi-ethnic settlement, Jimushar has integrated the cultures and folklore of Han, Hui and Kazakh, and is characterized by traditional festivals, handicrafts and delicacies. Same, the capital of Timor-Leste's Ainaro District, is located about 50 kilometers south of the capital, Dili, in the mountainous interior and is an important agricultural and transportation hub for the country.
