The town is famous for the Chi-Chi Railway branch line, and boasts the Chi-Chi Station (a wooden station) built during the Japanese colonial period, which is now one of the oldest train stations in Taiwan. The town's specialties include bananas, dragon fruits, and other agricultural products, and the annual Chi-Chi Green Tunnel Marathon attracts many tourists. The main attractions include the Mingxin Academy, the Chiji Barrage Weir, and the Military History Park, featuring both humanistic and natural landscapes.
Visitors can take the Jiji Railway or drive on National Highway 3. We recommend cycling through the Green Tunnel, visiting the 921 Earthquake Site, and enjoying a traditional banana egg roll. The best time to visit is from October to April, when the weather is cool enough for outdoor activities.
