São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
St. Helier is the capital and largest city of the British Crown Dependency of Jersey, located in the south-eastern part of the island in the English Channel near the French coast. The city is known for its historic harbor, Victorian architecture and mild island climate. As the economic and cultural center of Jersey, St. Helier has distinctive industries such as financial services, tourism and retail, and seafood cuisine.
Visitors can visit iconic sites such as Elizabeth Castle and the Jersey Museum, or stroll along the waterfront promenade and streets of the Old Town. The city uses the pound sterling and the Jersey pound, and the official languages are English and French, reflecting a unique blend of Anglo-French culture. St. Helier is well connected to the UK, France and other parts of Europe via ferries and flights.
