São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Located in Ontario, Canada, Mississauga is an important part of the Greater Toronto Area and the third largest city in Ontario. The city is bordered by Oakville in the west, Toronto in the east, Brampton in the north and Lake Ontario in the south, with a total area of about 292 square kilometers.
With a population of approximately 800,000, Mississauga is known for its multiculturalism, with 57% of residents speaking a non-official language. An important economic center in Canada, Pearson International Airport is located here, making it a national logistics and transportation hub. The city's economy is dominated by manufacturing, logistics, financial services and technology industries, with several Fortune 500 companies headquartered here.
Mississauga combines a modern cityscape with natural greenery, landmarks such as the famous Absolute World Tower and the 12-kilometre Lakeshore Trail, Square One, one of North America's largest shopping malls, and Celebration Square, which hosts cultural events and ice sports year-round. The city is 30% green, with more than 480 parks and excellent recreational facilities.
The city is home to higher education institutions such as Sheridan College, and the public education system encompasses multi-lingual programs. Known as one of Canada's safest cities for many years, Mississauga's safe neighborhoods, efficient municipal services and diverse and inclusive community culture attract immigrants from around the world.
