São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Kaili, the capital of Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou Province, is located in the eastern part of Guizhou and is known as the "Capital of Miao and Dong". It is home to more than 10 ethnic minorities, including the Miao and Dong, and has a rich ethnic culture, with the unique charm of the Miao New Year's Festival, the Lusheng Festival, the Dong Song and other non-heritage activities. The beautiful natural scenery such as Xiangfu Mountain and Bara River is intertwined with ethnic architecture such as hanging footstools and wind and rain bridges. Specialties such as sour soup fish and Kaili red sour soup are famous and attract countless diners. With the improvement of transportation network such as Hukun high-speed railway, Kaili has become the gateway of tourism in Southeast Guizhou, which is not only an excellent destination for experiencing ethnic minority customs, but also an ideal place to feel the beauty of the original ecological nature.
