São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Jiujiang, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangxi Province, is located on the south bank of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and northwest of Poyang Lake, at the junction of four provinces, namely, Gan, Hubei, Anhui and Hunan, and is known as the "North Gate of Jiangxi". As an important node city of the city cluster in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, Jiujiang combines famous mountains (Mount Lushan), rivers (Yangtze River) and lakes (Poyang Lake), and it is one of the first five cities open to the outside world along the river in China.
Jiujiang, with a history of more than 2,200 years of establishment, was once called Xunyang and Jiangzhou, and is a major cultural town in the south of the Yangtze River. Bai Juyi's "Pipa Xing" in "Xunyang Jiangtou Night Send Guests" originated here. Mount Lu, the world's cultural landscape, contains more than 1,500 humanistic landscapes, such as the White Deer Cave Academy and the Donglin Temple, and is known as the "Sacred Mountain of Humanities".
Jiujiang is now under the jurisdiction of 3 districts, 7 counties and 3 county-level cities, with a total area of 18,800 square kilometers and a resident population of about 4.6 million. As the only foreign trade port city in Jiangxi with access to the river and the sea, Jiujiang Port is one of the top ten ports on the Yangtze River. The economy is dominated by petrochemicals, textiles, and equipment manufacturing, while vigorously developing cultural and tourism industries, with a GDP of 402.6 billion yuan in 2022, ranking among the top in Jiangxi Province.
