São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Edgemont is a small city in Fall River County, South Dakota, United States, located in the southwestern part of the state near the Wyoming border. Nestled in the southern Black Hills region at an elevation of about 3,500 feet, the city is known for its peaceful rural atmosphere and western historical sites. Founded in the late 1800s, Edgemont was an important stop on the Chicago-Northwestern Railroad and still retains traces of its Old West flavor and railroad culture.
The city's economy is based on agriculture, livestock and tourism, and the surrounding natural beauty, including the nearby Angostura Recreation Area and Custer State Park, attracts outdoor enthusiasts for hiking, fishing and hunting. With a population of about 500, the climate is dry and mild, reflecting the typical prairie town character of South Dakota.
