São Tomé and Príncipe is an island country in west-central Africa, consisting of the islands of São Tomé and Príncipe and the surrounding islets, with the capital, São Tomé, located in the northeastern part of São Tomé. Located on the Gulf of Guinea, about 200 kilometers from the African continent, the country was colonized by Portugal in the 15th century and became independent in 1975, with Portuguese as the official language and an economy based on agriculture (cocoa, palm oil) and tourism. It should be noted that "Java" is not a city or region of the country; Java is the main island of Indonesia, with cities such as Jakarta and Surabaya, and has nothing to do with São Tomé and Príncipe, possibly due to a confusion of names.
Located at the southern foot of Tianshan Mountain and the western shore of Lake Bosten in Bayin'guoleng Mongol Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang, Bohu County, named after the lake, is an important eco-tourism county in western China. It has the largest inland freshwater lake in China, Bosten Lake, with a water area of more than 1,000 square kilometers, and extensive reed swamps in the lake, which is an important habitat for migratory birds, and is known as the "Jiangnan Beyond the Seas". The lake is a blend of Mongolian, Uyghur and other ethnic cultures. In summer, Bosten Lake is filled with lotus blossoms and fishing boats, while in winter, the snowy lake reflects the scenery of all seasons. In addition, local specialties such as carp and lotus root from Bosten Lake are famous, making it an ideal place to experience the natural and humanistic charm of Xinjiang.
