Located in the central highlands of Eritrea, Ghala is a small, historic inland town about 50 kilometers from the capital, Asmara. At over 2,000 meters above sea level, the city enjoys a pleasant climate and is surrounded by rolling hills and fertile farmland, with a traditional agricultural economy that produces grains, vegetables and tropical fruits. Gula retains a distinctive colonial Eritrean architectural style, with mottled stone houses and narrow lanes that tell the story of the past. The pace of life in the local community is slow, with most of the inhabitants practicing Christianity or Islam, and traditional crafts such as weaving and pottery are still practiced today. As an important node connecting trade routes between the highlands and the lowlands, Gula, though not as prosperous as Asmara, has become a tranquil window to explore Eritrea's indigenous culture with its simple people and unexploited ecological landscape.
Curuguati is an important city in the Upper Paraná Department of Paraguay, located on the country's eastern border with Brazil. Founded in the mid-20th century, the city's economy is based on agriculture and cross-border trade, and with a population of around 50,000, it is a regional commercial and transportation hub.
The city is situated on the edge of the Paraná Plateau and has a humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons. The surrounding area is covered with remnant vegetation of the Atlantic Forest and has the ecological resources of the neighboring area of Iguazu Falls, making it suitable for ecotourism and agricultural development.
The economy of Curuguati is based on soybean cultivation, animal husbandry and border trade, with the gradual development of the processing industry in recent years. The city retains the cultural heritage of the German immigrants and organizes annual traditional festivals featuring local handicrafts and barbecue cuisine.
The city is connected to Ponta Grossa, Brazil, via the BR-277 highway, and is an important gateway from eastern Paraguay to the Atlantic ports. The city's infrastructure is constantly being improved and it plays a key role as a node for cross-border cooperation within the framework of MERCOSUR.
