Fort Pierre is located in west-central South Dakota, USA, adjacent to the state capital, Pierre, on the banks of the Missouri River. The city takes its name from the Fort Pierre Trading Post of the early 1800s, which was an important stronghold for the early fur trade and western pioneers. As one of the oldest permanent settlements in South Dakota, it dates back to 1832 and carries a rich heritage of Indian culture and western development.
Today, Fort Pierre's economy is based on livestock and agriculture, while tourism is based on the natural landscape. The surrounding area offers hunting, fishing and outdoor adventure, while the annual Memorial Day event and rodeo showcase a strong western heritage. With a population of approximately 2,000, the city retains its small-town, quiet atmosphere and is located just across the river from the capital, Pierre, which together form the cultural and economic center of the region.
Sevan is a small town in the Armenian province of Gegharkunik, located in the eastern part of the country on the shores of Lake Sevan, about 66 kilometers from the capital city of Yerevan. The town is famous for its eponymous alpine lake, Lake Sevan, one of the largest freshwater lakes in Eurasia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level, which is known as the "Pearl of Armenia".
Lake Sevan is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and crystal clear waters, making it an important tourist and recreational destination in Armenia. The town boasts historical monuments such as the Sevan Monastery, a 9th-century monastery situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake, which attracts many tourists and pilgrims. With a population of around 20,000, the town of Sevan retains its traditional Armenian culture, while the infrastructure is constantly being improved to provide accommodation and catering services.
