Diffa, the capital of the Diffa region in southeastern Niger, is located on the southern edge of the Sahara Desert and shares a border with Nigeria, making it one of the most important border cities in Niger. The city is located in the lower Niger River basin around the climate of the tropical desert climate, hot and dry throughout the year, the average annual precipitation is less than 300 millimeters. The economy is based on agriculture and animal husbandry, and the surrounding areas are rich in millet, sorghum and livestock. Diffa, as a regional trade center, undertakes the function of cross-border trade with neighboring countries, such as Nigeria, and is especially famous for the trade of livestock, agricultural products and handicrafts. The city is culturally diverse, with Hausa, Tuareg and Kanuri ethnic groups living in the area, and is unique in its crafts such as traditional leather weaving and silversmithing. Despite infrastructural challenges, Diffa remains an important economic and cultural node in the south-east of the Niger, thanks to its strategic location and rich cultural heritage.
Yuping Dong Autonomous County is located in the eastern part of Guizhou Province of China, belonging to Tongren City, and is the only autonomous county of Dong nationality in China. With an area of 517 square kilometers and a population of about 150,000, Dong is the main ethnic group. Yuping has a long history and is known as the "hometown of the xiao flute", and its xiao flute production technology has been listed as a national intangible cultural heritage.
The place belongs to subtropical monsoon climate, beautiful mountains and rivers, the main attractions are Maoyang River, Bell and Drum Tower, White Water Cave Waterfall and so on. The economy is dominated by agriculture, tourism and specialty handicrafts, and products such as Yuping xiao flute, tea oil and Dong embroidery are well known throughout the country. The culture of the Dong people is profound, with unique folk activities such as wind and rain bridges, Dong songs, and the Samar Festival.
The transportation is convenient, with the Hukun High Speed Railway and Xiangqian Railway passing through the city, and only 50 kilometers away from Tongren Phoenix Airport, which is an important hub connecting Xiangqian and Guizhou. Yuping combines natural ecology and ethnic culture, and is an important destination for experiencing the Dong ethnic customs and the landscape of Qiandong.
